RE:4th Albums
Is it just me or do heavy metal bands put out albums that suck ass? Seriously, I was walking home today from Asylum #123, and it got me thinking. While listening to Morbid Angel's 3rd album Covenant (kicks ass by the way), I listened to their follow-up DOMINATION. The writing on that album was sooo weak. I like it nonetheless, but why is this album not up to par with their previous 3? And then I thought about METALLICA. KILL'EM ALL was a great debut (pure head banging), RIDE THE LIGHTINING dodged the sophomore jinx, and MASTER OF PUPPETS is still the greatest heavy metal album of all time. Then ...AND JUSTICE FOR ALL is released and I'm like, ok! Now what? Never captured the magic that was MASTER OF PUPPETS. The same thing with SLAYER. SHOW NO MERCY was great, HELL AWAITS kicked ass, REIGN IN BLOOD (considered the greatest thrash metal album of all time, some say that Master of Puppets was better)was great. Then SOUTH OF HEAVEN is released and I think what the fuck? I already explained my gripe with MORBID ANGEL. IRON MAIDEN. Let's just say that the NUMBER OF THE BEAST was better than PIECE OF MIND. I don't know, I guess people just don't try as hard any more. I guess 3 is the lucky number and 4 is just an afterthought. Who the hell am I fooling? I hope this isn't the case with FOZZY. Great fucking band. Well it's time to retire, and BATMAN BEGINS and STAR WARS were the best movies I've seen thus far this summer. I've come to the conclusion that I'm no longer in love with DARK ANGEL (JESSICA ALBA). You see, she was great in SIN CITY, but after that FF bullshit, Jessica should never be offered another movie role in her life.
